Zombie,Lora.TattooGirl.2011
Process I started off with creating the block print, which took many trials because either the consistency of the ink wasn't right or I added to much or not enough.I then proceeded with adding random splatters of acrylic and watercolor paints. |
Inspiration
My inspiration for my block print was Lora Zombie's "Tattoo Girl". I wanted something where the main focus was in black and white but that in some way it had a pop of color. In her piece the girl is giving her back to the viewer so you can't see her face in my piece the girls face isn't really there even though you can see it because it's expression less. She made the girl nude, in a way mine is nude because she is showing her insides (bones/flesh/blood). Like in her piece I kept the girl in black and white and added watercolor paint splattered around the whole thing. Meaning This piece I wanted to do something personal, so I decided to represent my lack of confidence in my own skin/body which is something I don't really tell people. At first I wanted to do the girl how she actually looks on the outside, what people see from her. I thought that wouldn't get the meaning across what so ever so I decided to do this zombie/decaying girl, to show how her body is dying inside because she doesn't love it. I didn't add damage to the face to show that she isn't completely gone. |
